Lisa Roper

September 24, 1963 — August 22, 2024

Our beloved Lisa Susanne (Morgan) Roper was born on September 24, 1963, and entered eternal rest on August 22, 2024, at the age of 60. Her passing was sudden and unexpected, due to complications from ovarian cancer.

Lisa was born to Bob and Susan Morgan in Highland Park, MI, and grew up in Orchard Lake, MI, alongside her two sisters. Her childhood was filled with a love for swimming, ice skating, sledding, and excelling at both water and snow skiing.

As a teenager, Lisa discovered her passion for music. She took up the flute, piano, and voice lessons, and her extraordinary talent was evident to all who heard her sing. She competed in numerous State Honors Choir and band competitions, consistently earning first place, and played lead roles in many high school musicals. After graduating from West Bloomfield High School in 1981, Lisa went on to study music at the University of Michigan. In 1982, the family relocated to Orange County, CA, where Lisa joined them the following year and changed her major to business at Cal State Fullerton.

It was in California that Lisa met the love of her life, Eric Roper. The two were married on May 25, 1985, and recently celebrated their 39th wedding anniversary. Shortly after their wedding, they moved to Broken Arrow, OK, where Lisa continued her education at the University of Tulsa, earning a degree in finance while working full-time and raising their first child.

Lisa's career began in 1985 at BSW Architects, where her intelligence, tenacity, and drive propelled her to become Vice President of Administration, as well as holding positions such as controller, business manager, and Director of Finance during her 25 years there. She later joined Navico-Lowrance, serving as Director of Finance for 15 years, and also served as Vice President of P2 Dent Repair in Broken Arrow, OK.

Lisa and Eric were blessed with two sons, Kirk Robert, born in 1989, and Cory David, born in 1993. In June 2016, Cory married the vivacious Shannon, and in the following years, Lisa's heart was filled with the joy of her grandchildren: Kamryn, 5; Kendall, 1½; and Rhyan, 9 months. Kirk found love with Ashley, who brought three more children into Lisa's life: Brayden, Kynadi, and Maddox.

Lisa was a woman of incredible strength, courage, and resilience. She bravely battled and survived lung cancer twice, in 2001 and 2017. Even after her ovarian cancer diagnosis in 2022, she fought with all her might.

Lisa was the matriarch of her family, and her love for them knew no bounds. She was happiest when surrounded by her family and friends, whether she was entertaining, cooking, fishing, boating, camping, traveling, or cheering on her beloved Dallas Cowboys. Her favorite time of year was the 4th of July, a holiday she cherished for its fireworks and celebration.

Lisa was preceded in death by her father, Bob, in 2015. She is survived by her mother, Susan; her loving husband, Eric; her sons, Kirk and Cory (Shannon); her three grandchildren, Kamryn, Kendall, and Rhyan; her sisters, Jennifer Morgan and Rachael Roper (Chris); her nieces and nephews, Taylor, Spenser, Brooke Peterson; and countless other family members and friends.

Lisa's strength and grace were an inspiration to all who knew her. She made broken look beautiful and strong look invincible. She walked through life with a spirit that seemed to soar, lifting those around her.
