Lisa Lynn Gatewood, age 57, passed away in her home on Thursday, September 26th, 2019, after a three month battle with lung cancer. Lisa was surrounded with love as she passed with her mother, daughter and wonderful hospice team by her side.
Lisa worked with visually impaired students as a Braillist for over 20 years. She enjoyed her time working with students and often went above and beyond to support their needs. Lisa loved nature and collecting heart shaped items she would find during her walks with her grandchildren. In turn her grandchildren enjoyed collecting nature items, like heart shaped rocks, whenever they would go on vacation, to give to their grandma. Lisa had a kind spirit. She had a great, quirky sense of humor and could always find the bright side of life. Lisa had a deep love for music and shared this love with her children. She felt it important to spread joy, find beauty in everything, and give to others. Above all, Lisa loved her children and her grandchildren, who called her Grandma LiLi. She poured her free time into building memories with her grandchildren.
Lisa is survived by her daughter Niki Kottre, her son Sam Gatewood, her son-in-law Kenny Kottre, her grandchildren Jordan, Dominick, and Ellie Kottre, her mother Lori Baggett, her father Ray Baggett, many aunts, uncles, and cousins, as well as a close-knit group of friends.
Lisa will be greatly missed but her family and friends will continue to find ways to spread joy in her honor.
The family would like to thank Nurse Annie and A-Vow Hospice for their love, care, and time they dedicated to Lisa and her family during the difficult cancer journey.
