Lisa Lee Deason, 51, of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away on November 12th, 2017, in Broken Arrow, OK. Lisa was born on March 27th, 1966, in Monahans, Texas and raised in Tulsa, OK by Sandra and Charles Locke. Lisa graduated high school from Holland Hall in 1984, and went on to earn her bachelor’s degree in Sociology from Rice University in 1987. Lisa later earned her master’s degree in Applied Behavioral Science with an emphasis in Community Counseling from Oklahoma State University in 1994.
Lisa married Danny Claude Deason in Tulsa, Oklahoma on August 17th, 1989. The two originally met at work, and spent the next 28 years together in love. Lisa was an avid reader and passionate in her pursuit of becoming a more accomplished professional. She was a loving mother, caring wife, and was always accompanied by her Australian Shepherds Calvin and Kelsey. Lisa had a love for dancing, music, and spending time with colleagues and friends. Lisa’s smile would light up a room and her compassion was a beacon to those in need. She was a mentor, a teacher, and a guiding light to everyone she touched.
Lisa had several professional accomplishments; she was licensed by the state of Oklahoma as a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Behavioral Practitioner. Lisa spent most of her career working with Green Country Behavioral Health Services (GCBHS), starting in 1996. During her tenure with GCBHS, Lisa oversaw children’s programs starting in 1998 and served as clinical director beginning in 2009. She was awarded the Clinician of the Year award in 2004 for her outstanding work. She served as president of the Oklahoma Play Therapy Association and was a board member for the Laura Dester Shelter. She provided workshops for the Casey Foundation, the University of Oklahoma National Resource Center, and for the Department of Human Services. In addition to her work with GCBHS, Lisa provided supervision to budding counselor’s seeking licensure. She also taught as an adjunct instructor with Langston University, Southern Nazarene University, and Tulsa Community College for several years. Lisa was also appointed to serve on several committees with the Oklahoma State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure.
Lisa leaves many loving memories with her family, husband, Danny Deason; son, Daniel Deason; brothers, Todd Locke, Mark Locke, and Charles Locke, Jr.; father, Charles Locke, Sr.; sister-in-law’s, Susan Locke and Jami Locke; son-in-law, Robby Byrd; nephew, Joshua Locke; and nieces, Samantha Locke and Haley Locke. She is preceded in death by her mother, Sandra Locke.
A Memorial Service for Lisa will be held on Friday, November 17th, 2pm at the Chapel of Saints Valley at Memorial Park, 5111 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK 74145. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Lisa’s name to one of her favorite charities, the John 3:16 Mission of Tulsa.
