Linda Kay (Green) Vorba of Tulsa, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short but intense illness on Sunday, May 2, 2022, at the age of 71. Linda was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, on October 23, 1950, and was a long time resident of Tulsa.
She graduated from Dewey High School in 1968. During her high school years she was a member of the marching band, was a twirler and was crowned band queen her senior year. She maintained many high school friendships through her entire life. Life in small town 50s and 60s could feel idyllic with neighborhoods full of kids on bikes and small town sports. Everyone knew everyone. Linda and her sister Teri lost their mother Betty Jean to cancer while they where still young, 16 and 11, respectively, and she and Teri along with their father, Paul, were warmly embraced by friends in the neighborhood and the community while they coped with the loss. A loss that would affect them for the rest of their lives.
After graduation Linda attended Oklahoma Northeastern A&M College before finding work at Cities Service in Tulsa. She went on to work at Occidental Petroleum and Texaco in the Natural Gas Liquids group where she made many fun and somewhat "naughty" lifelong friends. She worked in the industry during a fun time and traveled frequently to entertain customers with dinner and golf. In 1983, Linda along with her young daughter Alicia married Larry Lee Vorba and in 1985, welcomed a son Jonathan.
Life was then filled with lots of activities, soccer and basketball games, colleges, graduations and grandchildren. Linda was also a long time breast cancer survivor. After retiring she was an active volunteer at the Tulsa Assistance League and Meals on Wheels where she loved to help some of the most vulnerable in the community. The last few years she took loving care of her Aunt Marcia Hutchison until her passing in May 2021. Marcia was like a mother to Linda and her sister Teri and a beloved grandmother to Linda's children, Alicia and Jonathan. Linda loved to laugh and live life to the fullest. She was happiest when she was surrounded by friends and family. She was loved and treasured by her family and friends and we will miss her terribly.
Linda was proceeded in death by her mother, Betty Jean (Hutchison) Green and father Paul Samuel Green of Dewey, Oklahoma and her aunt Marcia May Hutchison. Survivors include her husband Larry Lee Vorba of Tulsa and children Alicia Jean Beck of Denver, Colorado, and Jonathan Albert Vorba and wife Kirsten of Arcadia, Oklahoma, grandchildren Otis James Beck and Betty Louisa Vorba, sisters Teri Bridget Green of Oklahoma City and Kathy Ann Rowton of Harrah, Oklahoma, and brothers David Wayne Rowton and wife Sherri of Tulsa, Paul Edward Green and wife Tennie and John William Green and wife Robin of Dewey, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews.
