Linda Kay Cusher, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Linda was born on August 31, 1940 in Tahlequah, Oklahoma to Essie Lee Douglas and George Henry. Linda was raised in Beggs, Oklahoma by her grandmother Bessie Haynes. She graduated from Chilocco Indian School. While raising her children and working full time she attended and graduated from Northeastern State University with a Bachelors Degree in Criminal Justice. She worked and retired from The Department of Human Services as a social worker. She was an active member of Newtown United Methodist Church, where she served as church treasurer and very active with the United Methodist Women's group. She also served on the Muscogee Creek Nation Election Board for many years.
She was an avid OU sports fan. She loved going to church and church singings and most of all spending time with her grandchildren and family. At times, Linda could pull into the driveway or parking lot and honk her van horn and all her grandkids would know that the granny wagon was there. Linda loved to attend all school events that her children and grandchildren participated in. She loved her family more than anything.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, sisters Galela Tompkins and Jody Bemo, brother Dan Palmer, and grandsons Braden Jackson and Tyler Lynn Keith Clark.
She is survived by her children Bobby Cusher of Okmulgee, Randy and wife Amanda Cusher of Tulsa, Cindy and husband Scott Smith of Okmulgee, and Jacque and husband Bryan McGertt of Okmulgee, brother Joe Freeman of Elizabeth, Colorado and sister Theada Palmer of Tulsa, grandchildren Bailey and husband Garret Janway, MacKenzie and wife Jessica Burton, Elizabeth Dillion, Elijah Cusher, Silas Cusher, Bryson Smith, Tanner Sorrels, Andrew Cook, Will Harjo, Savanna Harjo, and Zachary Tyler Grimes, great grandchildren Isiah McGee and Hagen Janway. with a host of nieces, nephews, and many relatives and friends.
A wake service for Linda will be held 7:00 PM, Friday April 2, 2021 at Newtown United Methodist Church, 14460 N 210 RD. Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Funeral Service will be Saturday, April 3, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Newtown United Methodist Church with Reverend Jones and Reverend Long officiating. Pallbearers are MacKenzie Burton, Bryson Smith, Elijah Cusher, Silas Cusher, Zachary Grimes, and Garret Janway.
