Lilia Hill

May 19, 1946 — May 29, 2024

We are gathered here not to mourn but to celebrate the extraordinary life of Lilia Carrillo Hill, a beacon of love and joy who left us on May 29, 2024. Lilia's story began on May 19, 1946, in the heart of Sabinas, Mexico, where her vibrant spirit first took breath.

A proud Mexican woman, Lilia's journey was as radiant as the Oklahoma sunsets she came to cherish. At 19, she ventured to San Antonio, a young woman with dreams as vast as the Texas sky. It was there she met a kindred soul, Dr. Kenneth Hill, known to her as "the invisible man," a playful nod to the mystery that would soon become her life's partner. Their love story was sealed on August 21, 1972, at Ft. Sam Houston, Texas, a union that would flourish through the decades.

Together, they built more than a successful optometry business; they built a legacy. Hill Vision was not just a place of work but a symbol of their shared vision, a testament to their partnership from 1974 until 2012.

Lilia's humor was as infectious as her generosity was boundless. She navigated life with a fierce spirit and a protective embrace, always ready to uplift and support. Her quick wit could spark laughter in any room, a gift that endeared her to all.

But above all, Lilia was a matriarch whose love knew no bounds. Her grandson, Braxton, his "YaYa," was the apple of her eye, a joy that illuminated her world.

Today, we honor a woman whose life was a tapestry of strength, humor, and unwavering love. Lilia leaves behind her beloved husband, Dr. Kenneth Hill; her devoted children, Karena Choate and Kenny Hill; and her cherished siblings, Maria Wilson, Santa Garcia, Guille Arambula, Veronica Siddiq, Jose Carrillo, and Fabiola Bennett. Though she steps ahead of us into the next chapter, her spirit remains intertwined with ours.

Lilia, your legacy will continue to inspire us, your laughter will echo in our hearts, and your love will guide us forevermore
