Lewis Thomas (Knobby) Haynes, 74, of Jenks, OK, passed away Friday, February 10, 2017 at his residence.
Knobby was born in Claremore, Oklahoma on March 29, 1942, a son of the late Marie (Miller) and Clarence Haynes.
He was a proud member of the Creek Nation and a complex, talented, quiet, intelligent man of few words but when he spoke you knew you should listen. He went to OSU majoring in engineering and computer sciences but in his heart he was a true Boomer Sooner & loved OU football. His other favorite past time was going to a country pond, casting a line and fishing all day. He joined the military and after training went into Army Intelligence and traveled all over the world. When he left the military he went to work for Skelly Oil in the computer processing dept. He really wasn’t the type of guy to wear a suit every day and soon he became interested in construction. He started as a journeyman and became a master carpenter, which is where he found his peace and joy, he loved building things. In his career he worked as a construction superintendent for M.L. Jones Construction and Stava Building Corporation.
Knobby is preceded in death by his parents, nephew, Phillip and brother-in-law, Jim Duncan.
Lewis is survived by a sister, Helen Duncan; nephew, David Farthing; best friend and companion of 30 years Candy Parnell; as well as several other family members and friends.
