Leota J. Millard , known as Lee by family and friends, was born in Alva, Oklahoma on
October 16, 1929 to Leo and Edith Burrows. She was the eldest of three girls in the Burrows family. Those sisters are Lavona Martin and Betty Bridges.
She was married to Thomas "Bud" Millard on January 12, 1951 and in 1963 they moved to Claremore where she took a job in lab and x-ray at the old Franklin Hospital. Before the hospital closed its doors permanently she worked part time at the Claremore Health Center in the laboratory, a job that would become a permanent work home for her until her retirement in 1992. Following Bud's death in 1988 and her retirement she loved to travel, going to various states including a special trip to Hawaii. When she wasn't travelling you could find her in her flower gardens, playing cards, or out with her friends at various dances in the Claremore area. She was the happiest when she was on a dance floor especially when Bud was still with her. An avid reader she could always be found with a book in her hand or in her purse.
Raising their four girls was always their top priority. They always provided a stable and loving home not only to their own girls, but always seemed to have an extra girl or two stay with them. All were treated as family.
She grew up in the Catholic faith attending both public and Catholic schools as a youngster.
She went to be with the Lord on November 28, 2016 at the age of 87. The family would like to express our deepest thank you to Wood Manor Nursing Home and to Grace Hospice for their loving care of our mother.
A graveside service will be held on Friday, December 9, 2016 @ 10:30 a.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, daughter Mary Pryor and infant son Michael.
