Leonard Myers Mink Jr. was born on June 3, 1947 in Marion, Virginia to Leonard Meyers Mink and Ruth Swingle Mink. He was brother to Kenneth Mink, Susan Mink Colclough and James "Jimmy" Mink.
Len married Cathy Gravitt on June 18, 1972. They have two children, Carrie Meredith Mink Perez (Omar) and Leonard "Lenny" Myers Mink III (Leslie) and six beloved grandchildren: Sydney Mercedes Mink, Leonard "Leo" Myers Mink IV, Dominic Antonio Perez, Stone Cassius Mink, Dylan Antonio Perez and Violet Ruth Mink.
The grandson of a Virginia Methodist circuit rider, Len loved his Appalachian hometown of Marion Virginia. After graduation he joined the United States Navy, but his immense vocal talent soon led him to new doors of opportunity. At 21, Len began his television career with his own weekly, prime-time television show on WCPO-TV in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the featured soloist in thirty-two concerts with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra. He made multiple appearances singing on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson, The Mike Douglas Show, The Merv Griffin Show and many others.
Despite his successful career in show business, Len felt empty. In 1971, the Holy Spirit began to move at his CBS television studio in Cincinnati. Ken Bagwell, Arthur Blessitt, and Father Tom Turnbull were instrumental in bringing Len into a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Before he gave his life to Jesus, Len simply sang songs. Now his life would become a song. With his newfound salvation, he asked the Lord what his purpose in life would now be. He heard these words in his heart, "everywhere you go, simply create an atmosphere for Me to be Myself, and I will take it from there." And that is exactly what he spent his life doing - for thousands of people around the world, through his own ministry and as a worship leader for Kenneth Copeland Ministries for over 40 years - a connection and relationship that he and Cathy treasured deeply; in healing meetings for Kathryn Kuhlman; and as a regular guest singer at Kenneth Hagin's Campmeetings for over 35 years.
Throughout his career, Len shared his ministry on various national Christian television shows including the 700 Club, TBN, 100 Huntley Street, The Believer's Voice of Victory and many more. As a sought after television host, he co-hosted the Dove Awards for the Gospel Music Association. He was also known for his "Gospel Duck" ministry for children with over 10 projects written, recorded and produced. Generations are still being captivated today and young minds are being educated about faith in God through music.
Len and Cathy were also instrumental in the formative and pioneering years of "Teen Challenge". They took great joy in participating in street ministry and outreaches. In more recent years, their television program, "Len & Cathy" a daily show on the TCT television network was launched. Seen in the U.S. on DirectTV, and around the world in 173 countries and continues today through on-demand streaming. He and Cathy also have co-hosted The Road Show on the Oasis Radio Network Global platform. Notably, Len Mink held an Honorary Doctorate Degree in Sacred Music from Life Christian University and was a member of The Tribe of Judah motorcycle ministry, reaching out to bikers and outlaw gangs. In 2019 his long anticipated book, The Supernatural Power of Music, A Quantum Leap Into Worship, was released which culminated a 20 year study into the power and frequencies of music.
As an internationally known Psalmist, beloved Worship Leader, Author and prolific songwriter, Len's legacy includes over 30 albums and hymns projects. He was a beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Mentor and Friend. His Legacy will live on through his music, his writings, his teachings and especially through his children and grandchildren along with the many thousands of lives he and Cathy touched through their ministry around the world.
