Leonard James Bill Handley age 93 passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2007 at University Village, Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Mr. Handley was born October 19, 1913 to Christian M. Handley and Pearl (Humphrey) Handley in Norfolk, Nebraska. In 1931 he graduated from Deul County High School. From 1946 until he retired in 1978 he owned and operated a concrete company: Chappell Hollostone, Chappell, Nebraska. Bill Handley was an avid Nebraska Corn Huskers' fan; he also enjoyed fishing and hunting. Mr. Handley was active in his community. Bill served many years on the Chappell City Council; he was a Volunteer Fireman for 55 years and served 31 years as a Fire Chief. Bill Handley was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chappell, Nebraska. Approximately five years ago Bill moved to the Tulsa area to be close to his family members.
Mr. Handley was preceded in death by both parents: Christian M. and Pearl Handley; his first wife: Anna Lorena (Johnson) Handley (1990), his daughter; Carole Jeanne Coussens (1997) and his second wife: Freida Howitt Handley (2002).
He is survived by his grandson: Brent Coussens and his wife, Caroline, of Tulsa; four granddaughters: Cherie Craig and her husband, Chad, of Tulsa; Lori Voth and her husband, Jeff, of Tulsa; Jill Krick and her husband, Brian, of Belgrade, Montana; Leanne Smith and her husband, Eric, of Tulsa; 15 great grandchildren; his sister: Dora Cunningham and her husband, Don, of Torrington, Wyoming; son in-law: Conrad (Curt) Coussens and his wife Winifred of Tulsa;
Memorial services will be held in Chappell, Nebraska.
