Lawrence Kimball Small

April 10, 1928 — November 20, 2018

Lawrence Kimball Small was called to be with the Lord on, Tuesday, November 20, 2018 in his home with his family by his side. He was 90.

Lawrence was born on April 10, 1928 in Gorham, Maine. He was the son of Doris (Kimball) Small and Wilbur Rankin Small.

He spent his childhood growing up in Maine and attended Fryburgh, Maine until he enlisted in the United States Navy on January 14, 1946. Lawrence proudly served our country for almost 21 years.

After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he moved to Arkansas and raised hogs on a farm. Eventually he moved to Chelsea, Oklahoma where he met Francis (Smith) Small who became his wife just after 6 weeks on December 7, 1969.

Eventually Lawrence and Fran moved back to Maine to be near his father and help him with carpentry and cabinet making. In 1976, the couple finally moved back to Tulsa and bought a farm in Jennings, Oklahoma where they became involved with the Jennings First Baptist Church and held many community outings, one of them being their memorable Forth of July parties.

After the passing of Fran, Lawrence married Joann Small on August 31, 1993 in Miami, Oklahoma. At that time he also adopted Joann's son, Peter.

After many years if farming and carpentry work, Lawrence finally retired in 1995 to spend more time with his family who he cared for deeply, especially his children and grandchildren. Along with his family, Lawrence also had a love for the game of baseball. His family claimed he was the biggest Texas Rangers fan there ever was. He was also a talented wood worker and cabinet maker. Lawrence was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. and American Legion.

Lawrence had a dry sense of humor but could always find a way to make people laugh. He will be missed by many.

He is preceded in death by both of his wives, Francis (Smith) Small and Joann Small; his parents, Doris (Kimball) Small and Wilbur Small and two step-brothers, Roland Collomy and Delwin Collomy and step-daughter, Dana McKinney.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Renee Randall; son, Peter Small; step-son, Albert Butcher, Jr.; grandchildren, Heather Metzer (Matt), Vicki Butcher Mack (E.J.), Tyler Butcher, Colton Butcher, Coty McKinney and Aubrey McKinney Morgan (Glenn) and many great grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, December 3. 2018, at 2 PM at the Jennings First Baptist Church with Mark Compton officiating.

Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service and Cremation Care. Family and friends may send memories and condolences to the family, online at www.schaudtfuneralservice.com.
