LaVonne Mikkelson Roseboom, 89, formerly of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, March 18, 2020, at Hazel Colson Hospice House in Perry, Georgia. Funeral Services will be on Monday, March 23, 2020, at 2:00 PM at Schaudt’s Funeral Service chapel in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. Interment will be in Okmulgee Cemetery immediately following the service.
LaVonne was born in Lake Park, Minnesota, to the late Peter and Minnie Mikkelson. She was the secretary for Oklahoma District Judge Charles “Buster” Humphrey for 35 years. She enjoyed sewing, including needlepoint and cross-stitch, and reading. LaVonne was a long-time collector of clowns.
Through the years, she was an incredible mother and grandmother who treasured every moment spent with her family. As dementia began to steal her life and memories, LaVonne moved to Georgia in 2012 to live with her son, Pete, who became her constant caregiver. She will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Elmer “Rosey” Roseboom; her son, Ronnie Roseboom; two siblings; and a daughter-in-law, Pamela Roseboom.
Left to cherish the memories they made with LaVonne are her children, Mary Ellen Schoonover (Dennis) of Bennett, CO; Mike Roseboom (Debbie) of Broomfield, CO; Rosey Storey (Bill) of Haskell, OK; Pete Roseboom of Ft. Valley, GA; and Penny Wheeler (Dennis) of Seminole, FL; twenty-two grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; six siblings; and numerous nieces and nephews.
