LaVerna Lee Cobb passed away Saturday, December 15th, 2018. She joins her beloved husband of 62 years, James D. Cobb “Jim”, who passed away on December 4th.
LaVerna was born on February 25, 1934 in California to Cleo and Mary Hart. The family moved back to Oklahoma where she grew up and graduated from Agra High School. She met and married the love of her life in Stillwater, OK on December 1st, 1956.
She enjoyed playing bridge, bowling, cooking, bird watching, Oklahoma State University sports and traveling the world with her husband. While raising her four children she worked full time beside her husband at Cobb Engineering Company. LaVerna and Jim were inseparable and now are together again with their Heavenly Father. LaVerna truly left the world a better place through a servant heart that left an indelible mark on her family and countless others.
She is survived by her ‘4DS’; Dan and his wife Shellie, David and his wife Tami, Dena Gawey and Diana and her husband Darren and five grandchildren Tyler, Hunter, Chas, Dawson and James. She is preceded in death by her husband James, her parents and her brother Bill Hart and her sister Ann Jones.
A graveside service will be held at IOOF Cemetery in Norman, Oklahoma on Wednesday December 19, 2018 at 2 PM. In lieu of a memorial service, a celebration of LaVerna’s life will be held in February 2019.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of LaVerna to the Oklahoma City Community Foundation benefitting the James D. & LaVerna L. Cobb Scholarship for the OSU School of Civil and Environmental Engineering.
