Reverend Larry Andrew Wileman, born on a farm in Cotton County, Oklahoma in 1944, peacefully passed away at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma on April 20, 2023, at the age of 79. Larry's life was marked by a deep commitment to education, faith, and service to his community.
He graduated from Big Pasture High School in Randlett, Oklahoma in 1962, followed by Southwestern State College in Weatherford, Oklahoma in 1966, and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Ft. Worth, Texas in 1970. Throughout his career, Larry served as a pastor at First Baptist Churches in Graham, Boise City, Weatherford, Ada, and finally at South Tulsa Baptist Church in Tulsa, Oklahoma. His dedication to his congregation and the spiritual well-being of others was unwavering.
Beyond his pastoral duties, Larry was a devoted volunteer at Laureate Psychiatry Hospital in Tulsa, where he touched countless lives with his compassion and care.
Larry is survived by his beloved wife Judy, their daughter Courtney Fellers and her husband John, along with their children Madison and Mason McDown and Camille Fellers; his son Jared and his children Parker, Presley, and Paige Wileman. He was preceded in death by his son Larry Andrew (Andy) Wileman II, his parents T. L. and Mary Wileman, and sisters Charlotte, Peggy, and Francis.
A private graveside service to celebrate Larry's life is planned at Fairview Cemetery in Randlett, Oklahoma, where he will be laid to rest.
In addition to his professional and familial roles, Larry was a trustee of Oklahoma Baptist University, a passionate angler who found solace in fishing, and he shared a lifelong love story with Judith, whom he met as high school sweethearts in Randlett, Oklahoma when she was a sophomore. They exchanged vows on August 27, 1965, in Laverne, Oklahoma, marking the beginning of a journey filled with love, companionship, and shared joys.
Larry had a thirst for knowledge and enjoyed immersing himself in the pages of a good novel or delving into the intricacies of history. His legacy of faith, kindness, and dedication to others will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
