Larry McCosar of Okmulgee, Oklahoma, passed away surrounded by loving family on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the age of 72. Born on July 2, 1952, in Talihina, OK, Larry was the son of Matthew and Nellie (Cornell) McCosar.

Larry was a proud graduate of Sequoyah High School and later attended OSU Institute of Technology. For 45 years, he worked in the upholstery industry, where his skills and dedication were respected by all who knew him. His love for the outdoors was central to his life-he spent countless hours hunting and fishing, finding peace and joy in nature. Larry was also an avid bowler and an exceptional cook, known for bringing people together through his food.

A man of great generosity, Larry had a heart for others and never hesitated to help anyone in need. His kindness and willingness to serve will be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.

Larry is preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Nellie McCosar, and his siblings Matthew McCosar, Rita Richards, Victor Cosar, Sandra Johnson, Judy Two Two, and Winford McCosar.

He leaves behind many cherished memories with his family: his sons, Larry Dean McCosar, Christopher McCosar, Jerome Amos McCosar, and Lyle Barnett. His brothers, Bunnie McCosar and Thomas McCosar, his sisters Shirley Almerigi, Beverly Dennis, Paula Willits, and Josie Sapien. Larry is also survived by his fourteen grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and nine great-great grandchildren along many more loving relatives and a wide circle of dear friends.

A Public Viewing and Visitation will take place from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, September 23, 2024, at Schaudt's Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on September 24, 2024, at Many Springs Indian Baptist Church, 7375 E 137 Rd, Holdenville, Oklahoma, with Pastor and longtime friend Daniel Wind and Pastor Jimmy Anderson officiating. Pallbearers will be Marshall Thompson, Grant Dennis, Forbes Perkins, Mark Bible, Jerome McCosar with Thomas McCosar and Stanley Wilson serving as honorary pallbearers.
