Larry Cox 07/28/1938 - 01/28/2022
Larry Cox, resident of Owasso, Ok, loving and devoted husband and father of two children went to be with his Lord and Savior on January 28, 2022 at the age of 83. He was a servant to God and his family and our lives were so blessed to have him.
He is survived by his loving wife JoAnn Cox of 63 years, Son Cory Cox and his wife Shonna Cox, Daughter Megan Bagby and her husband Rich Bagby, Granddaughter Savannah Bagby, Grandson Christian Bagby and his wife Rebecca Bagby, Granddaughter Victoria Coulson, Sister Linda Weaver and her husband Ray Weaver, Brother Marvin Cox and his wife Pam, Brother Melvin Cox and his wife Charlotte.
He is preceded in death by his parents Leleand and Florence Cox. He was a mortgage banker by trade in Oklahoma City for over 30 years, he opened the first mortgage brokerage in Oklahoma City, CMS. He always said he enjoyed small loans as much as the next, he just enjoyed getting people into their first homes.
In his retirement he was still serving by opening a Christian based and family operated child care center, One Step at a Time. The center served Edmond, Ok families for over 20 years. The children loved their Mr. Larry.
He enjoyed many things throughout his years. He was a lifelong golfer, most of those years as a scratch golfer. He enjoyed fishing and in previous years painting, archery, hunting and various other sports. He loved nature and thought it was a true thank you to God by enjoying it every chance he got. His latest hobbies were making custom knives for loved ones and volunteering at the Tulsa Zoo. His love for animals was close to his devotion to his family and any friend he ever made.
Larry never gave up on anyone no matter what, he was kind and had a smile for everyone. He was very devoted to his church where he served as an usher at Church 3434. He was even baptized again at the age of 81 "just to be sure" when he couldn't remember being baptized as a youngster.
The words often used to describe him were perseverance and diligence. Just one example of this is surviving his first of four strokes at the age of 36 which weakened his right side. His take of that was that it made him pull through more with his left arm on his golf swing which improved it. He looked for the blessings in everything. Larry's devotion to prayer brought healing to many people in his life and we will always be grateful for his devotion to those around him. He will be missed dearly and our lives will never be the same without this great example of a man, but we know he is having a ball in his next life.
His Celebration of life will be on February 5th, 2022 at 1:00 at Church 3434. Arrangements are entrusted to Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service.
