Larry Edward Snowden, a longtime resident of Preston, passed away on Monday, April 2, 2012 at the age of 58. Larry was born on January 8, 1954 to Lawrence and Nancy (Allan) Snowden in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He graduated from Strother High School in 1972 and graduated from Central State University in 1976 with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Industrial Art. Larry began working with Phillips Petroleum in Oklahoma City after college and transferred to Okmulgee in 1978. On May 29, 1982, he married Pamela Ann Evans in Okmulgee and the two have made Preston their home since that time. In 1984, their first child, Elizabeth was born, followed by their second child, Jeffery in 1986. He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Elsie Allan and grandparents, Lewis and Dewey Snowden. Survivors include his father and mother, Lawrence and Nancy Snowden of Strother; wife, Pamela Snowden of Preston; two children, Elizabeth Snowden and Jeffrey Snowden, both of Oklahoma City; his aunt, Nelda Skaggs of Forney, TX and numerous cousins and other relatives. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 6, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Okmulgee with Brother Wade Harelson officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Little Cemetery near Seminole under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Mark Hudson, Kevin Chesser, Joe French, Kenneth Carpenter, Kenny Graham and Hank Williams. There will be no viewing but friends may come to the funeral home Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. to sign the register book.
