Larry Edward Kelley

October 23, 1946 — November 20, 2020

Larry Edward Kelley, Sr., was born October 23, 1946 to the late Cecil Kelley and Dorothy Wiggs Kelley Fox. He went home into the arms of Jesus on November 20, 2020 at his home in Glenpool, Oklahoma.

Larry graduated from Dewey High School in 1964, and enlisted in the US Army in May of 1966. He married the love of his life, Sharon Kay Hill, on November 23, 1966. After his honorable discharge in 1968, Larry and Kay moved from Virginia back to Oklahoma. Over the next few years they moved between Oklahoma and California. In 1977, they decided to move back to Oklahoma and settled in Glenpool, where they raised their 5 children.

Larry loved his family more than anything. He was always talking about how proud he was of his five children, his grandkids and great grands. But the thing he was most proud of was his wife, Kay, and the amazing love story they lived out day after day. Larry was a man of few words, but he showed his love for his family through his actions. He worked hard every day of his life, whether on the job or working around the house. He was the happiest outside with his favorite cup of coffee. You would find him on his porch, working on his truck (or his kids vehicles) or on his lawn mower. During dad's final days, he wanted everyone to know how much he loved them.

Larry was proud of his work as a heavy equipment operator, and this year received his 40 year pin as a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 627. He could maneuver that trackhoe like no one else. He also enjoyed his years as crew chief for Jimmy (Flip) and Debbie Estes Poor Boy racing out at the Creek County Speedway.

Larry is survived by his wife, Sharon Kay of the home in Glenpool; his children, Eddie (Theresa) Kelley of Broken Arrow, Ok, Joey Kelley of Glenpool, Ok, Letha (Bart) Martin of Sapulpa, Ok, Tonya (David) Hunt of Glenpool, Ok, Kim (Brent) Hughes of Glenpool, Ok; grandchildren Thomas (Jenna) Kelley, Bryttnie (Chris) Harris, Addison Kelley, Samantha Hughes, Rachel Hughes, Lyndsey Hughes and Ashlynn Hunt; great grandchildren Ty and Aiden Kelley, Kayden and Charlie Harris, Levi Rucker and Elayna Palmer; Aunt Daisy Davis and family of Tahlequah, Ok; sisters, Barbara (David) Wilson of Fallon, Nv, Sandy (Kenny) Rutherford of Winfield, Ks, Lola Kelley of Bristow, Ok, Faye Wadsworth of Glenpool, Ok and Mary (Buryl) Turley of Park Hill, Ok. Larry has numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews that he loved as his own, along with many cousins, lifelong neighbors and friends that are more like family.

He is preceded in death by his dad Cecil Kelley, mom and stepdad Dorothy and Garth Fox, sister Patricia Kelley, brother Steve Kelley, twin brother Jerry Kelley Sr, brother Danny Kelley, and Grandson Jeffrey Palmer.
