Lanny Thompson

(June 24, 1964 - October 13, 2024)

Lanny Dale Thompson, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, resident of Glenpool, Oklahoma passed away on October 13th, 2024, at the age of 60. Lanny was born on June 24th, 1964, at home in Henryetta, Oklahoma.

Lanny graduated from Graham high school in 1982. He met the love of his life (Debbie) in Eufaula, Oklahoma. They were married for over 41 years. Lanny was the dad of all dads. He was active in every part of his family's lives. Whether he had just finished driving for long, overnight hours when he was a truck driver for Hale-Halsell or when he worked with his brother Danny and sister-in-law Becky at B&B Electric, he always prioritized his family first. Lanny was a die-hard Oklahoma Sooner Football fan. He supported Amber and Autumn in everything they did and was present for everything possible. He dedicated many years to coaching youth basketball and impacted the lives of countless athletes with his encouragement and passion. One of his favorite sayings was "Have Heart." Lanny also had a newfound joy in supporting his favorite NASCAR driver Kyle Larson. He loved vacationing and spending time by the pool with family, spoiling his grandbabies, and making memories with the love of his life, Debbie.

He will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Lanny leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness that will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to have crossed paths with him. Lanny is survived by his wife Debbie Thompson; their daughter's Amber (Darren) Wallace and Autumn Bates; grandchildren Tavarie, Dru, Audrina, and Karter; siblings Danny (Becky) Thompson and Tresa Horner; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father John Clyde Thompson, his mother Carrie Joy Holmes, and older sister Gloria Thompson Mosco.

A celebration of Lanny's life will be held on October 25th, 1:00-3:00 pm at Schaudt's Glenpool-Bixby Funeral Service (1329 E. 151st Street, Glenpool, OK 74033)
