Kristen Leigh Durbin, born on June 24, 1969, in Oklahoma City, OK, to Robert Durbin and Suzanne (Shires) Kelley, passed away peacefully on May 18, 2024, in Tulsa, OK, at the age of 54. Kristen's life was a testament to love, creativity, and resilience.
Kristen was the cherished daughter of Robert Durbin and Suzanne (Shires) Kelley. She is survived by her father, Robert Durbin and his companion Regina; her stepfather, Raymond Kelley; her brothers, John and James Dunn; her special cousins, Jimmy Durbin and Tara Davidson; her uncle, Jim Durbin; and her aunt, Marcia Martak. She is preceded in death by her mother, Suzanne Kelley.
Kristen graduated from Union High School and the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor's degree. She was a talented photographer, renowned for her ability to capture the beauty of nature and the essence of people. Her skill was extraordinary, and her passion for photography was evident in every image she took.
An adventurer at heart, Kristen loved to travel and had the opportunity to visit several countries. She spent time studying at the Sorbonne in Paris, where she immersed herself in French culture and language. Kristen was also a dedicated music enthusiast, with a particular love for the Grateful Dead. A true "Dead Head," she traveled far and wide to experience live concerts, finding joy and connection through music.
Kristen was an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous for eight years and was incredibly proud of her sobriety. Her journey and dedication inspired many, and her commitment to helping others in their recovery was a testament to her generous and loving spirit.
Kristen's warmth, creativity, and unwavering strength will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her legacy of love, art, and resilience will continue to live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
A celebration of Kristen's life will be held 11:00am, Saturday, June 8, 2024, at Schaudt Funeral Service Chapel, 5757 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74145, where we will gather to remember her vibrant spirit and the beautiful impact she had on all of us.
