Kevin Lee Crosser, 54, of Tulsa, OK died July 27, 2016 in Tulsa, OK. Kevin was born in Tulsa, OK to Bil and Jeanne Crosser on August 14, 1962. Kevin is survived by his children, Leigha (Taylor) McCool and her husband, Chance; Thaddeus (Kohl) Crosser, Jacob William Crosser and his wife, Hannah; brother, Gregory Scot Crosser and his children, Brittany and Brandon; brother, Matthew Brian Crosser and his wife, Angie and their daughter, Abby. Along with many other beloved extended family and friends.
Kevin graduated from East Central High School in 1980 including two years at Tulsa Vo-Tech. He started working at American Airlines as a painter and an A&P mechanic in 1986. For the last twenty years at AA, he worked as a Shop Steward, Sergeant of Arms and Executive Board Officer for Transport Workers Union local 514. Among other things, Kevin played a major role in bringing the new hanger to American Airlines in 2009. Kevin was loved and respected at American Airlines and the TWU.
Kevin had a passion for playing softball and he used it as a ministry. He was a coach and pitcher for several teams including church leagues and later created his own softball team sponsored by Worth. Most people knew of or were offered to buy a Worth bat for a great price out of Kevin's car trunk.
Kevin loved his community and the city of Tulsa. He served on Tulsa's Vision 2025 committee and the Tulsa's Sales Tax Oversight Committee. He was proud to be part of bringing the BOK center to Tulsa and the Route 66 improvements. In 2009, he was looking forward to being chairman for Visio 2025 for the next year.
Kevin had a heart for charities and people in need. He was an active participant and organizer for the Red Cross and United Way. Kevin could be seen often giving food to the hungry, shelter to the homeless, and spiritual guidance to the lost. Kevin loved meeting people and loved for you to meet them also. God blessed Kevin with a heart of Grace and he literally gave a man the shirt off his back one day. He was an inspiration and example to all.
Kevin is known for all these things but most of all he was known for being a devoted father. He was present at every baseball game, dance recital and school event. He was constantly on the road between Tulsa and Oklahoma City to make sure his children saw him as much as possible and knew they were loved by their dad. Dinners out, long card ridges, trips to the sporting goods store, fun a Celebration Station, renting a hotel room just to swim at the pool and ball tournaments all in an effort to make every moment special and memorable.
Kevin grew up going to East Tulsa Christian Church. He was part of the youth group and made many lifelong friends at ETCC. He was baptized into Christ March 31, 1974 the same day as his brother, Greg and his good friend, Jimmy Foreman. Kevin attended church as often as possible. He wanted to pass on his faith to his children. He was always reading Bible stories to them, watching Christian kids' videos with them, listening to Christian music and never missed saying prayers before bed even if it was over the phone.
August 20, 2009 Kevin's life changed when he was involved in a motor vehicle accident. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and for the last 7 years was confined to a wheelchair or the bed. Kevin was unable to talk or even communicate in any way on most days. He endured any hospitalizations, several bouts of pneumonia, many days of therapy and numerous procedures. Some may say that Kevin's last years were a tragedy. But the truth is that Kevin's last years were a blessing. Kevin was present many days. He would follow the voices and faces of his children. He always had his eyes open when he saw his mother, Jeanne. He was able to attend special church events, holidays, birthdays, his son, Jacob's wedding and recently his daughter, Taylor's wedding.
Kevin died peacefully at home on Wednesday evening, July 27th. While he will be deeply missed we live with the hope of Jesus. Kevin loved the Lord with all his heart, mind, soul and strength. We rest in the knowledge that Kevin is in heaven today. He is running around the bases, hugging his Grandma Jessie and other relatives and friends, meeting all kinds of new friends and he has a new body with no limitations. We look forward to the day that we are united with him in heaven. "Now faith is being certain of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see" Hebrews 11:1.
