Kent Wilson Harrell, Sr., a longtime resident of Okmulgee, passed away Saturday, October 17, 2015 at the age of 99. He was born July 13, 1916 to Benjamin Roy and Mary Angiliene (Reynolds) Harrell in Bellefonte, Arkansas. On September 14, 1940, he married Edweena Louise Moore. He served in the United States Air Force during WWII and was the oldest WWII Veteran in Okmulgee. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the National WWII Museum in New Orleans. He retired as a federal government employee. Mr. Harrell was a loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Edweena Louise Harrell in 2012; parents, Benjamin R. and Mary A. Harrell; six brothers and sisters and two babies.
Survivors include his three children, Kay Morton and husband, John; Rosalyn Piechal and husband, Bill and Kent W. Harrell, Jr. and Taylor Lee Harrell; eight grandchildren; ten great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild and numerous other relatives and friends.
Graveside Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday, October 23, 2015 at the Highland Park Cemetery in Okemah with Pastor Tommy Laxton officiating.
Visitation will be held Thursday from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.; family will greet friends that evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service 220 S. Alabama Ave, Okmulgee.
Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force; Patriot Guard Riders and the VFW Post 1189 Okmulgee.
