Kenneth Wesley Dare

Services to honor and celebrate the life of longtime Bixby resident, Kenneth Wesley Dare will be 2:00 PM Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Evergreen Baptist Church. The family will greet friends Wednesday evening from 5-8:00 pm at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Service. Kenneth passed from his earthly body to his eternal home on Friday, February 15, 2019, he was 84.

Kenneth Wesley Dare was born on September 18, 1934 to Grady Wesley Dare and Rosalee Cook Dare in Stephens County, Oklahoma. Kenneth lived in Duncan, OK during his childhood and teen years. He attended Duncan Schools from 1st-12th grade. Kenneth committed his life to Christ at age 17. He joined the U.S. Army in 1953, serving for 2 years, mostly in Karlsruhe, Germany.

After being discharged, he went to Oklahoma Baptist University. Being a member of the Bison Glee Club was one of the highlights of his life. Later, he received a Bachelor's Degree from Hardin Simmons University. Kenneth also attended Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, completing studies in church music and religious education. Kenneth married Frances Lee Arnold on June 6, 1959, in Shawnee, OK. Kenneth's careers were working as a district circulation manager for the Daily Oklahoman, serving churches in Oklahoma, Texas, & Arkansas in the fields of music, education, and youth. He also worked as an area supervisor for a non-government jobs program for senior adults.

Kenneth enjoyed leading Explorer Scouts during his time at the Daily Oklahoman, coaching Little League sports' teams, attending his son's and daughter's sports, music, and drama performances, participating in many church and musical activities, serving as a Gideon in the Gideon's International Ministry in OK and one of his greatest joys with the Gideons was distributing the Word of God to others. He also served as an ombudsman for Senior Care Facilities. Kenneth was an avid fan of the Oklahoma Sooners.

He was preceded by his parents, Grady and Rosalee Dare and siblings Woodrow Dare, Afton Dare, Ruby Harris, Geneva Marks, & Jo Hicks.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Frances of the home, daughter Kristy Pinion and husband Michael of Tulsa, son Evan Dare and wife Linda of Edmond, his six grandchildren-Luke Pinion and wife Shandra of Broken Arrow, Caleb Pinion and wife Christina of Webb City, MO, Aaron Pinion of Bixby, Cayden Dare and wife Taylor of Ft. Worth, TX, Landon Dare of Hoboken, NJ, and Lexie Dare of Norman. He was also blessed with 3 great-grandchildren-Lincoln, Spencer, & Cordelia Pinion of Broken Arrow along with a host of several nephews, nieces other family and friends.

To honor Kenneth, the family suggests memorial donations, in his name, be gifted to the Gideons International or Evergreen Baptist Church.
