Kenneth Lee Martin of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, passed away on May 28, 2017 at the age of 71 at St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. He was born in Miami, Oklahoma on August 12, 1945 to parents William Thomas Martin and Maude Madelene Martin, both of whom preceded him in death. After high school, he served in the U.S. Air Force as a SSG during the Vietnam War. Kenneth was honorably discharged in 1971 after becoming 100% disabled.
Kenneth is survived by his wife Shelia Martin of the home; his children Annie Smith (spouse Steve) of Tennessee and Daniel Martin (spouse Heath) of Mississippi; step-children Telena and Johnny Kelley, both of Sapulpa; brothers William Martin of Florida and Thomas Martin of Missouri; (younger brother Michael Martin preceded Kenneth in death); sisters Jeanne Tamez of Texas, Vicki Bridges of Missouri, and Tamra Price of Oklahoma. He had numerous grandchildren; Hannah and Jedidiah Smith of Tennessee, Kenny Kelley, Justin Callahan, Brandon Kelley, Tyson Kelley, and Lacee Hacker of Oklahoma; and great grandchildren Aiden and Bricklin Kelley, also of Oklahoma.
Kenneth was raised in southwest Missouri and later joined the Air Force where he met Edith Firster, mother of his children, He was later wed to Shelia Kelley in March of 1980. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and his love for music. He entertained both family and friends with his talent for playing the piano. His professional accomplishments include back up recording for the great George Jones and his employment at the famous club, Gilley's in Texas. His musical abilities will be missed by all. In addition, he was a gifted auto mechanic and managed a garage in Granby, Missouri for numerous years.
Visitation and viewing will be from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM Sunday June 4, 2017 at Schaudt’s Glenpool Funeral Service.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 AM Monday June 5, 2017 at Schaudt’s Glenpool Funeral Service Chapel, 719 East 141st Street.
Reception at VFW, 1201 W. Dewey, Sapulpa, Ok immediately following service.
Interment will be at Ft. Gibson National Cemetery.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Schaudt Funeral Service and Cremation Care, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool, Oklahoma 74033.
