Kelsey Katelyn Walker, 30 years old, was born January 5, 1993, in Stillwater, OK, and passed away on Friday evening, May 19, 2023, in Tulsa, OK, from complications of Huntington's Disease (HD). A memorial service is scheduled for 2pm on Thursday, May 25, at Schaudt's Funeral Chapel at 5757 S Memorial Dr, Tulsa, OK.
Kelsey grew up in Stillwater, OK, and enjoyed all types of sports but loved horseback riding and basketball, with her special favorite teams/sports being Carolina Tarheel basketball as was shown by her collection of Tarheel memorabilia and clothes. Starting at a young age, Kelsey rode horses in dressage and hunter jumping, competing in both Pony Club events and Dressage shows. She always jokingly said, "Yes, I grew up in a barn!" as she spent much of her free time at the barn working with her horses and special trainer, Robin Hessel. She loved to travel, especially to NC to visit grandparents and to Myrtle Beach, SC every summer where she would spend hours riding boogie boards in the waves with her cousins, Austin and Weston. She and her mother traveled the entire length of Route 66, collecting 100s of pictures and long-lasting memories. She also loved spending time with her OK grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins with one of her favorite pastimes being making noodles for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Kelsey graduated from Stillwater High School and attended Emporia State University, with only a few courses to complete her degree before her illness prevented her from further school work.
Surviving family members include her mother, Kaye White Walker and partner Scott Freese; maternal grandmother, Marie White, Wilmington, NC; Aunt/Uncle Brenda White and Craig Waddell, Wilmington, NC; Aunt/Uncle Deanna and Elroy Wheeler, Wichita, KS, and many, many cousins. She was predeceased by her father, Charles Walker; maternal grandfather, James Eugene White; paternal grandparents, Lois and Wayne Walker. Extended family members include her special caregivers who worked diligently to care for her over the past several years: September, Gwen, Luwanda, Kate, Sam, Audrey, and the many staff at Southern Hill Rehab Center.
