Keith Preston Canfield of Tulsa, Oklahoma for the past four years, formally of Brentwood, California, died June 22, 2007 at the age of 90.
Keith was born in Grundy Center, Iowa February 15, 1917 to Lewis B. Canfield and Pearl Jackson Canfield. Keith graduate from Grundy Center High School where he played basketball and participated in all musical activities. He sang and played the guitar in a trio known as Three Tower Rhythm Boys with his brother Kenneth and Russell Kruse. They sang on radio station WMT in Waterloo, Iowa. Keith was a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner.
He spent his life's work serving his country which he loved as an Air Force Officer. He was involved in three wars: WW II, Korea and Vietnam. During WW II he served in the United States Naval Reserves. After the war he was a police officer. He re-enlisted in the Air Force where he earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland. He served as a security officer for twenty years living in North Carolina, France, Germany, Lincoln, Nebraska and Guam. After retiring from the Air Force he provided security at the Los Angeles International Airport for fifteen years.
He was preceded in death by both his parents and two brothers, Kenneth Manly and George Dale.
Mr. Canfield is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 66 years, Katherine Samsell Canfield; two daughters: Virginia Walker (husband Dr. Jerald Walker) and Patricia Guse; four grandchildren: Elisabeth Walker, Matthew Canfield Guse (wife Elizabeth), Katherine Guse, Anne Walker (husband Jon Hooten, four great-grandchildren: James Preston Guse, John Michael Guse, Adriana Elizabeth Guse and William David Guse. He is also survived by two sister in-laws: Lucille Canfield and Shirley Johnson; brother in-law Pete Samsell and two cousins: Bernis Bailey of Grundy Center, Iowa and A. Richard Bloomberg of Port St. Luci, Florida and numerous nieces and nephews.
Keith's passions of the heart were: faith, family, country, friends, travel, music and sponsoring church youth activities. He was a wonderful friend maker.
