Kathryn Jean Sullinger

August 14, 1935 — February 6, 2025

Kathryn Jean Mason Sullinger, was known as “KK” to her many grandchildren and “Jeannie” to her extended family. She was a beloved mother to her three children, grandmother to 12 grandchildren, great grandmother to 27 and great great grandmother to two. 

She passed away peacefully on February 6, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was born on August 14, 1935, in Mineral Wells, Texas, to Merrill and Mary Jane “Mollie” Burgay, being the youngest of six sisters and one brother.

She was preceded in death by her parents, six sisters, one brother, her son-in-law, Mike Moore, and her husbands, Clifton Windle Mason and Robert Sullinger. She married Clifton Windle Mason on July 3, 1952 in Hobbs, New Mexico. Clifton worked in the oilfield and grasping adventure, Kathryn made a home for her family around the world. To Clifton and Kathryn, two sons and a daughter were born, Clifton Michael Mason, Gregory Earl Mason and Sandra Jean Mason Moore, who, along with their spouses and families, will cherish her memory. 

Clifton passed away on November 5, 1985 and she married Robert Sullinger on June 6, 1986. They made their home in Prague, Oklahoma and Mineral Wells, Texas, finally settling in Bowlegs, Oklahoma. Kathryn’s early years were marked by hardship, but she faced life with determination and faith. She was headstrong, loyal, and deeply loving, always there for those she cared for. She loved animals, especially dogs, and was never without a pet to bring her joy and companionship.

A woman of deep faith, Kathryn’s love for the Lord was unwavering, a trait she carried from her mother. She lived by her convictions and was always willing to extend kindness to anyone who needed help. Among life’s simple pleasures, Kathryn found joy in music, movies, and her favorite treats, Coca Cola and Sonic vanilla ice cream. 

She lived life on her own terms, embracing both its struggles and its sweetness with determination and love.She was known for her spirit, strength, and devotion to her loved ones and will be deeply missed but remembered in the hearts of those who knew her.
