Katherine Lea Wright

Katherine Lea Wright, affectionately known as "Kathy," was born on March 19, 1947, in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and peacefully passed away on December 11, 2023, in Owasso, Oklahoma. She was a loving soul, cherished by her family and friends.


Kathy is survived by her brother, Pete Thompson and his wife Cindy Thompson, and sister-in-law Nina Thompson. She will be fondly remembered by her grandchildren: David Wright, Wendy Miller, Johnny Wright, and Jackie Wright. In addition, Kathy is survived by nieces and nephews, Deanna, Dawna, Kimberly, Katrina, Tammy, Bert, Tiffany, Jeremiah, Kevin, and Jerry as well as a host beloved great nieces and nephews.


Kathy had a heart of gold and was a pillar of support for her family. She was a devoted and protective big sister, always offering encouragement and kindness to those around her. Kathy's selflessness knew no bounds, as she consistently placed the needs of others above her own.


A skilled and passionate cook, Kathy's culinary talents were celebrated by all who had the pleasure of enjoying her meals. Her banana pudding, okra, stuffing, and fried chicken were legendary, a testament to her cooking skills passed down from her mother. Nature and animals held a special place in Kathy's heart. She was an avid animal lover, always having a faithful dog by her side.


In addition to her immediate family, Kathy leaves behind cherished memories with her best friends, Sandy and Larry. Their enduring friendships brought joy and laughter into Kathy's life, and their shared moments will forever be remembered.

Kathy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Wright, stepsons Johnny and Dino Wright, sister Sue Patterson, brother Jess Thompson, and grandson Daryl.


Kathy leaves a tapestry of beautiful memories and an example of love and generosity that will continue to inspire all who knew her. Rest peacefully, as your spirit lives on in the love you shared and the lives you touched.


A memorial service will be held 1:00pm, Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Cura Hospice and Palliative Care, 4510 East 31st Street, Tulsa, Oklahoma 74135.
