Katherine Ann Rhodes

Katherine Ann Rhodes, 79, long time resident of Tulsa, Oklahoma passed away at her home Monday evening, September 19, 2016. Kathy was born March 1, 1937 in Oklahoma City, OK to Bert R. and F. Azilee Sammons Atkins. Kathy grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Southeast High School in 1955 and married Walter Marland Rhodes on July 22, 1955.

Kathy’s working career included Tulsa University, Jersey Production Company and the Tulsa Public School system Personnel/Accounting Department from which she retired. In addition to her professional career her biggest joy came from marrying the man she loved and raising a family with him.

Kathy’s dedication and love of family kept her involved for 38 years as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Atkins Family Reunion, an organization that began in 1920 and continues to meet annually in Siloam Springs, Arkansas on the last Sunday of June.

Kathy had many talents and a generous heart. She could knit, sew, cross-stitch, remodel rent houses and refinish furniture. She supported many charitable organizations including the Drumright Historical Society Museum. She had a fun sense of humor and a terrific smile especially after a few glasses of her favorite pink wine and served at her favorite time of day, “Tea Time”.

Kathy was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Marland. She is survived by her daughters Becky (Bill) Stoabs-Anchorage, AK, Beth (Arthur) Hardie-Sand Springs, OK,
granddaughters Angela (Ryan) Hutchison-Tulsa, OK, Rebecca (Michael) Beaird-Sand Springs, OK and great ones Brooklyn, Natalya and Chloe, brother John Atkins (Rosemary)-Raytown, MO, brother-in-law Paul Rhodes (Virginia)-Tulsa, OK, 3 nephews and a multitude of loving cousins.
We love you and will miss you mom. Tea Time will never be the same without you.

Visitation will be Thursday, September 22, 2016 from 5-8 p.m. at Schaudt's Tulsa Funeral Home, 5757 S. Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK. Funeral service will be held Friday, September 23, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. Graveside service will be in Oak Hill Cemetery, Drumright, OK.
