Karon Pauline Rutland, a longtime resident of Okmulgee, went to be with her Lord on Tuesday, February 9, 2010 at the age of 91. She was born on Friday, March 22, 1918 to Joseph Alonzo and Margaret Retimie (Blanton) Plemmons in Magazine, Arkansas. On June 6, 1936, she married Noble Herman Rutland in Pharoah, Oklahoma. She was an active member of the First Baptist Church in Okemah for 49 years and then a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Okmulgee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Noble in June 2008; her parents, six brothers and her son, Bill Rutland. Survivors include her two daughters, Margaret Driskill and husband, David of Okmulgee and Ellen Greenley and husband, Mike of Denton, Texas; nine grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; ten great great grandchildren and two brothers, Lonnie Plemmons & wife, Lois of Oklahoma City and Laddie Plemmons and wife, Neva of Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 12, 2010 at the Calvary Baptist Church with Reverend Lawrence Matlock officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Highland Cemetery in Okemah under the direction of the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home in Okmulgee. Pallbearers will be Ron Driskill, Mike Driskill, Reg Rutland, Bob Rutland, Tony Rutland, Dylan Greenley and Tyler Driskill. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday and 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Shurden-Kelley Funeral Home.
