Karen Hughes, a beloved daughter, spouse, and sister, has been called to her eternal resting place on July 2, 2023. She entered this world on July 16, 1943, in Vaughnsville, Ohio, as the daughter of Charles 'Doc' and Florence 'Neocia' Dimock.
Karen's life was defined by her deep love for her family and her passion for country music. From a young age, she exemplified a caring and family-oriented spirit, which stayed with her throughout her entire life. As "G Ma," she adored her role as a grandmother and cherished the moments spent with her grandchildren.
Growing up in Oakwood, OH, Karen's sense of determination and resilience became evident early on. She learned the value of hard work and compassion, traits that would serve her well in life.
It was on a blind date in Denison, Texas, that Karen first met her future husband, Harold Wayne Hughes. Their connection was immediate, and they embarked on a journey of love and companionship. On July 18, 1998, in Sherman, Texas, Karen and Harold exchanged their vows and began their life together as husband and wife. Karen dedicated her time and efforts to the family business, Hughes Industrial Services, Inc., where she worked alongside her husband. Through their joint endeavors, Karen and Harold created a lasting legacy, leaving an indelible mark on their community and industry.
Karen is survived by her devoted husband, Harold Wayne Hughes, who will forever cherish the memories they created together. She also leaves behind her children, Craig Ankney, Kristi Mays, Annette Ankney, and Brent Ankney and his wife Beth, along with their spouses and partners. Her grandchildren, Amber Ankney, Eric Akerman, Sara Lawson, Heather Mays, Robbie Mays, and Brent Ankney Jr., will forever remember their loving G Ma, great grandchildren Taylor and her husband Cody Warncke , Brooke, Cara, Louie, and Ben; great great grandchildren Jameson and Jack.
In addition to her immediate family, Karen is survived by her sisters, Connie Weller and her husband Richard, Brenda Eakins, and Carlotta "Lottie"Hahn and her husband Jim. Her brother, Darold Dimock, preceded her in death in 2022.
Karen Hughes will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her strong will, generosity, and love for family will remain in the hearts of those whose lives she touched. May she find eternal peace in the embrace of her loved ones who have gone before her.
