June Yvonne Davis, a former resident Henryetta, passed away Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at the age of 73. She was born on June 26, 1937 in Hominy, Oklahoma to George Davis and Canzadie Wood-Davis. She was a retired Sand Springs CPHS Spanish Teacher. She was preceded in death by her father, George Ellis Davis, and her mother, Canzadie Brown. June is survived by her two brothers, Carl Davis and wife Linda of Checotah OK, and George Davis and wife Tensie of Skiatook, OK; two sisters, Irma Carpenter of Tulsa, OK and Beth Fisher and husband Hank Rochon of Wichita, KS; as well as numerous other nephews, nieces, and other family and friends. "Senorita Davis" as she was lovingly called by her CPHS students, retired to Tahlequah to enjoy her Cherokee Heritage. She was a great, great, great granddaughter of Cherokee Chief John Ross and was ardent about any history, especially history of the Cherokee. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. at the Park Hill Presbyterian Church in Park Hill, Oklahoma. Burial will follow the service at the Ross Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home of Henryetta. Friends may send their condolences to www.shurdenjackson.com
