June Cozette Simmons

June Cozette (Kelley) Simmons, 87, Okmulgee resident, died at home Thursday afternoon, May 12, 2016 with her family by her side.

She was born June 1, 1928 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma to her parents, James H. and Fannie E. (Stubblefield) Kelley. June graduated from TJC in Tulsa and worked as a Medical Unit Records Clerk for St. John Medical Center as well as the Oklahoma Osteopathic Hospital. She married the love of her life Billy D. Simmons on November 12, 1946 in Sapulpa, OK. June enjoyed gardening, crossword puzzles, talking on the phone to friends and family, as well as reading books.

June is preceded in death by her parents, James and Fannie Kelley; husband, Billy D. Simmons; son, Larry D. Simmons; 5 brothers; 1 sister.

June leaves many loving memories with her family; son, Gary L. Simmons and wife, Beverly, of Wellston; daughter, Vicki L. Bowen and husband, Larry, of Okmulgee; sisters, Ellen Meadows, of Sand Springs, and Genevieve Barnhart, of Glenpool; grandchildren, Traci and Scott Chancellor, of Winchester; James S. Warren, of Okmulgee, Sherri and Easter Fixico, of Morris, Gary “Butch” Simmons, of Wellston, Brent and Michelle Simmons, of Piedmont; 10 great-grandchildren; 6 great-great grandchildren; host of step-grandchildren and step-great-great grandchildren.

Family will receive friends Tuesday evening, May 17, 2016 from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service, 220 S. Alabama.

Funeral Services will be 10:00 AM Wednesday May 18, 2016 at Schaudt’s Okmulgee Funeral Service Chapel with Pastor Dale Litsey officiating. Burial will follow at the Okmulgee Cemetery.

Casket bearers will be Butch Simmons, Brent Simmons, Brendon Warren, Zachary Warren, James Warren, Tyler McCormack and Trevor McCormack. Honorary bearer will be Scott Chancellor.
