Juanita Rooney

December 25, 1918 — August 25, 2010

Juanita (Nita) Reece (Biffle) Rooney age 91 passed away early Wednesday, August 25, 2010 at St. John's Medical Center in Sapulpa, Oklahoma.
Nita was born December 25, 1918 in Wetumka, Oklahoma to Reece Newman Biffle and Sylvia Henryetta (Johnson) Biffle. Nita married the love of her life, Harry Rooney in Fresno, California on September 20, 1946. She was of Christian faith and a member of Assembly of God Church. In her early childhood she loved helping her parents make quilts. This love continued through adulthood. Many of her quilts grace the beds of many homes of friends and relatives. She carried her love of art from her oil paintings to her design of quilts. At last count, she had made fifty quilts. As she neared the age of 90 years, she was still saving scrapes of material to make yet another quilt. Through-out Nita's life she had a love for writing and had several books published and some were illustrated by her daughter, Linda Card. Nita also developed a talent for oil painting - many of which hang in living rooms and offices of local dignitaries. She won several awards and ribbons for her still life paintings and she excelled in landscapes.
Nita was preceded in death by her parents: Reece and Sylvia Biffle; her husband: Harry Rooney; her daughter: Lavanda Joanne Day; her brothers: Kenneth and Robert Jay Biffle; and her sister: Grace Helen Biffle Thomson.
She is survived by her daughter: Linda Darline Rooney Card of Norman, Oklahoma ; her brother: Griffith Eugene Biffle of Dallas, Texas; three sisters: Berniece Reid and her husband, Charles Reid (her special brother in-law) of Glenpool, OK; Maunee Thompson of Tulsa, OK and Janice Boatright of Dallas, Texas. Nita is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, numerous relatives, friends and acquaintances.
