Joyce was born in Jackson, Kentucky February 16, 1941. As a young child her family moved to Tucson Arizona. She attended Amphitheatre Highschool where she was an honor student, played softball, and participated in various clubs. She was a Jobie, also known as a member of Job's Daughters, a Masonic affiliated youth organization.

Her first job while attending high school was at a record shop called Mars Hall. She loved the new music of the times and dancing! She graduated from Amphitheatre in June 1959. On September 19, 1959 she married her long time sweetheart Sammy Sutton. They recently celebrated 62 years of marriage. She and Sam started out in Tucson Arizona, but a job opportunity for Sam took them to Oregon. Eventually they settled in Claremore Oklahoma where they lived for the past 42 years.

Her greatest joy in life was her family. Her favorite job/blessing was that of being a wife, a mother and grandmother. She also worked for Oklahoma tourism and was a realtor for Century 21 in Claremore.

She was fortunate to be able to travel to many places in her life. She has been to most every state in the US and enjoyed many trips to other parts of the world. Such as Mexico, the Bahamas, Jamaica, Hawaii, Alaska, the Panama Canal, Venezuela, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Spain, Greece, Montenegro, Croatia, and many other exciting places. One of her favorite places to go close to home was Branson Missouri. She and Sam enjoyed meeting friends there and would go to as many musical shows as possible while visiting.

For our family and especially her husband Sam, life will never be the same. We will all miss her so very much. We wish to thank the many friends and family members who have offered their condolences to us all. We also would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Compassus Hospice of Tulsa and of Claremore Oklahoma. They truly are visiting angels in this world.

A private memorial and celebration of her life will be held for the family November 13, 2021. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Compassus Hospice, Make a Wish Foundation or Saint Jude Children's Hospital.
