Joyce Paul Birdsong

Joyce Paul Birdsong, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 23, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 90. Born on February 25, 1934, in DeFuniak Springs, Florida, Joyce lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to God, her family, and her community.

Joyce is survived by her son, Russell Birdsong of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her daughter, Cynthia Turner and husband Len Turner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her cherished grandchildren, Ashley Birdsong and husband Mike LaMonica of Jamaica, Vermont, Addison Turner of Tulsa, Oklahoma and Leigh Senger and husband Bryan of Charleston, South Carolina; her dear sister, Jeanette Smith of Tallahassee, Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Throughout her life, Joyce was known for her giving nature and her unwavering commitment to her faith and community. In her younger years, she was deeply involved in her church, raising her children with strong values and a love for God. She was an active participant in children's activities, ensuring her kids had a solid foundation both spiritually and socially.

Joyce's warmth and positivity were infectious; she had an extraordinary ability to make lemonade out of life's lemons. She was a wonderful grandmother who adored spending time with her grandchildren, creating cherished memories that will last a lifetime.

An excellent southern cook, Joyce delighted family and friends with her culinary skills, often sharing meals that were made with love. She found joy in singing with the church choir, her voice a testament to her faith and joy in life.

Joyce enjoyed various hobbies and interests over the years. She loved camping and the great outdoors in her younger days, creating adventurous memories with her family. In her later years, she enjoyed chair exercises and community potlucks, always eager to engage with those around her.

Independence was a hallmark of Joyce's character, and she lived life on her own terms until the age of 90. She held various jobs throughout her life, including positions in banking and property management, where she thrived on being around people and forming meaningful connections.

Joyce Paul Birdsong's legacy is one of love, resilience, and community spirit. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
