Vona Joyce Aday

August 9, 1949 — November 1, 2024

Vona Joyce Aday, 75, died peacefully on November 1st in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Joyce was born on August 9th, 1949 in Checotah, Oklahoma and graduated from Checotah High School in 1967. Joyce attended Oklahoma State University majoring in business and after graduation in 1972 moved to Tulsa to pursue a career path in the oil and gas industry.

Among others, she was employed at The Williams Company, Regional manager of Cities Services, Samson Resources, Vintage Petroleum Company, and retired from QEP Energy Company as a Senior Lease Analyst in 2016.

Joyce was always considered a valuable employee and thoroughly enjoyed the challenges of working in the industry. Joyce especially enjoyed the family vacations out west, beach trips to Florida, softball sleepovers at her house, annual family holiday gatherings and birthdays or cheering on the Thunder or any OSU team that might be playing.

Joyce grew up as a selfless person always putting her family first - willing to sacrifice some of her own joy in life to assist others. She was the primary caregiver for extended periods of time for her mother, father and, more recently, for both her brother and sister. Despite some health challenges of her own Joyce felt an undying commitment to her family.

This "family first" is an Aday trait she never relinquished and remained steadfast by her family until her death. What a blessing Joyce was to her family as she was always graciously there for us providing a home for the family to gather and assisting in so many other ways.

Joyce will be sorely missed by her close lifelong friends (Lana DeBakey Greenfield and Patty Yelton) and family members including her brother, Ron Aday (Phila Chandler), nephews (Jeff Frame (Dana), and Jon Aday), nieces (Angie Eaves (Brian), and Kathryn Elbrink), great nephew (Bryce Couch) and great nieces (Reagan & Erin Frame) and numerous cousins and their spouses. She was preceded in death by her parents (Audrey Wright Aday and Sheridan Aday), sister (Sherry Frame) and brother (Keith Aday). The family will have a Celebration of Life at a later date.

The family wishes to thank the nursing staff and others who provided Joyce with such loving care at The Parke Assisted Living Facility in Tulsa and the Schaudt Tulsa Funeral Service & Cremation Care for handling the final arrangements.
