Josephine Rose Massey, born on February 26, 1925, in Denver, CO, gracefully departed from this earthly realm on December 26, 2023, at the age of 98. She passed away peacefully in Tulsa, OK.

Josephine was a former resident of Glenwood Springs, CO and Palisade, CO.

Jo, a vibrant and spirited woman, lived a life imbued with joy, kindness, and a zest for discovery. Throughout her years, she left an indelible mark on the lives she touched and will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

She earned an associate degree in nursing, a testament to her thirst for knowledge and commitment to personal growth. Jo found solace and fulfillment in creating a loving home for her family, prioritizing the care and happiness of those she held dear.

Jo's warm and inviting nature drew people in, and she never met a stranger. With an infectious smile and a genuine interest in others, she effortlessly made connections and lifelong friendships. Whether engaging in lively conversations or simply playing a game of Bingo, or out shopping, Josephine embraced every moment, cherishing the company of those around her.

Josephine had a love for adventure, with a particular fondness for exploring the world while sailing on ocean cruises. Her travels brought her to various corners of the globe, broadening her perspective and creating beautiful memories that will be treasured by her loved ones.

A devoted member of the Church of Christ, Josephine found strength and solace in her faith. She expressed her love for God through her unwavering compassion for all creatures.

Jo's heart held a special place for her late husband, Charles, whom she met in Denver during World War II while he was serving our country. Their love endured, and the joy they shared was evident in their abiding partnership. The holiday season held a particular magic for her, as she reveled in the Christmas spirit, adorning her home with twinkling lights and heartfelt decorations.

Preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charles, daughter, Margaret, as well as 3 sisters and 2 brothers.

Jo is survived by her granddaughter Elaine and wife Shawna, and grandson Eric, who hold cherished memories of their beloved grandmother close to their hearts. She is also survived by her sister Henrietta 'Birdie', whose shared experiences and sisterly bond brought immense joy throughout their lives. In addition, Josephine leaves behind two great-grandsons, several nieces and nephews, and a wide circle of beloved friends.

Upon her death, Jo wanted to be cremated and placed in her final resting place - beside her loving husband, Charles in Grand Junction, Colorado at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado.

Josephine Massey's light will continue to shine through our treasured memories of a life beautifully lived. As we gather to remember her, let us be comforted by the joy she shared, the love she bestowed, and the legacy she leaves as an inspiration to all who were fortunate enough to know her.
