Joseph Raymond Young

Joseph “Joe” Raymond Young, 66, of Glenpool, Oklahoma, passed away on August 17th, 2020. Joe was born on November 19th, 1953 in Kirksville, Missouri to Harold Glen Young and Neva Marie (Clay) Young.

After early life in northern Missouri, Joe moved to Oklahoma and made a career as a painter at J&G Steel for over 25 years until retirement, where he forged many friendships and was known as a hard-working, dedicated man.

On January 22nd, 1990 he was united in marriage to Ilene (Grey) Young, who preceded him in death on September 28th, 2019.

Joe is also preceded in death by his parents, Glen and Neva, sister Phyllis Anderwald and his brother Darold Young.

Joe is survived by three sons, Tyson and wife Sheila of Glenpool, Kelly Banks and wife Stephanie of Bartlesville, OK and Dustin Young, Bartlesville. Two brothers Harold Young and wife Kathy, Jackie Young, sister Glendetta Sizemore and sister in law, Violet Young. Five grandchildren, Vaviana and Josie Young, Sable, Scout, and Aysen Banks. As well as many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joe enjoyed all things outdoors, hunting, fishing, his newly discovered love for gardening, and he lived for the annual four-wheeling mountain trips.

Joe’s heart overflowed with love for his family. He was a living example of loving-kindness and demonstrated daily what it meant to kind-hearted. His children and granddaughters were the light of his life.

It is said “the best dad’s end up being the greatest grandfathers” and that proved to be true for him. Being a grandpa came easy. He treasured every moment he had with his grandchildren, from imparting wisdom, and giving great advice to showering them with tenderness, affection, and gifts.

We will miss your laughter and funny stories. His love and memory will live on in our hearts forever. We love you always.

A Memorial Service to honor Joe’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 22 at Schaudt’s Funeral Service and Cremation Care Center, 719 E. 141st Street, Glenpool. A reception for close family and friends will be held following the Memorial Service at the home of Tyson and Sheila Young.
