José S. Saldivar Sr. passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, January 17, 2025, at the age of 66. Born on July 18, 1958, in Nochistlán, Mexico, José was the beloved son of Ramón and Margarita Saldivar and the second of fourteen children. As the eldest son, he grew up embracing a sense of responsibility and leadership that would define his life.
José met the love of his life, María Robles, at a young age. Despite living in different countries during their courtship, their love only grew stronger. They were married on July, 25th, 1981 in Tlachichila, Zacatecas, Mexico, beginning a beautiful partnership that spanned decades. At just 17 years old, José and María moved to California to start their family, eventually settling near Tulsa, Oklahoma.
A devoted family man and tireless provider, José was known for his unwavering work ethic and the warmth he brought to every interaction. He had a deep passion for cooking, which he shared professionally and personally. He pursued his culinary education at Tulsa Community College and spent many years as a chef, most recently at River Spirit Casino. José's talent in the kitchen and his joy in preparing meals created lasting memories for his loved ones.
José was a kind-hearted man who cared deeply for others. He always greeted everyone with a warm smile. His generosity and spirit touched countless lives.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ramón and Margarita Saldivar, and sister, Maria Saldivar Rubalcava.
José leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with his wife, María Saldivar; daughter, Lizette Saldivar; son, José Saldivar; daughter, Norma Gallegos; son, Ramón Saldivar; and son, Jesse Saldivar, along with many other loving relatives and a host of friends.
A public visitation will begin at 4:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church and continue until Wednesday, January 22, at 9:00 AM. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, followed by a graveside ceremony at Calvary Cemetery.
Jose Saldivar, Ramón Saldivar, Jesse Saldivar, Andrés López, Juan Gallegos, José García will serve as pallbearers.
