Jonnie Carolyn Bowen

Jonnie Carolyn Henson Bowen was born January 13, 1936 in Chetopa, Kansas to John and Zelda Martin Henson. Jonnie died on December 16, 2016.

Jonnie grew up in Chetopa, Kansas. Her family owned the Henson Mill. She told wonderful stories of growing up with her brother, Tim, their parents and their grandparents next door. Their family attended Chetopa Christian Church.
Jonnie always returned home to visit her mother in her childhood home. She liked to say, 'Nothing bad ever happens in Chetopa'.

Jonnie loved her family. She has two sons, Rick and Gregg, from her marriage to Eugene Cooper. And she has two step daughters, Linda and Tonya Bowen from her later marriage to Bernard Bowen.

Jonnie lived in Owasso, Oklahoma for 40 years. She worked in Tulsa, at Herd Equipment Company, L.B Smith, later as a realtor and last, at American Airlines. She attended Collinsville German Church and Collinsville Baptist Church. She enjoyed genealogy, family photographs, history, travel, antiques, music, piano, crocheting and her pets.

Jonnie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband Bernard Bowen.
Survivors include her aunt, Shirley Bowen of Parsons, Kansas, her brother, Tim Henson and wife, Carla, of Joplin Mo, sons Rick Cooper and Gregg Cooper and wife, Minta, and daughters Linda and Tonya Bowen. Survivors also include grandchildren, Lindsay Cooper, Ciara Cooper, Cara Cooper, Richard Cooper, Taylor Cooper, Kelly Hudspeth, Richard Hudspeth, Emily Hardesty, Micah Cooper. Survivors also include nephews, John Henson, Bryan Henson, and niece Jennifer Henson, and great grandchildren and great nephews and nieces.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, December 21, 2016, at Faith Baptist Church, 1126 Maple St. Chetopa, Kansas. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery in Chetopa, Kansas.
