Jonathan Tulsa

Jonathan Tulsa, Mounds resident, passed away on February 9, 2017 at his residence in Mounds, Oklahoma. He was born on November 2, 1949 to July and Mae (Long) Tulsa.

Jonathan graduated high school from Chilocco Indian School. Jonathan served his country in the Army after high school. He worked as a painter in the construction industry. Jonathan was a member of Pickett Chapel Indian United Methodist Church.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Betty, parents; July and Mae Tulsa, sister; Marilyn, brothers; Joe Monroe and Gary Berryhill, grandson; Christopher Owens.

Jonathan is survived by his children; Gary Tulsa and his wife Stephanie, Shannon Shields-Thompson, Nancy Tulsa, Andrea Tulsa, siblings; Anthony Tulsa and his wife Ellen, Gloria Jean Ware, Genelle Myer, Juanita Thompson and her husband Carlin, Katherine Tulsa; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild, and many other loving family and friends.

Pallbearers will be Chris Matthews, Kyle Matthews, Paul Thompson, Carlin (Johno) Thompson, Malachi Gadladge and Nate Myer. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark Forde, Tim Calvert, Warren Myer, Jr., Richard Wildcat, Russell Gadladge, Gbon Choate, Fred Sapulpa, and David Tulsa.

Wake services will be 7:00 PM Tuesday February 14, 2017 at Pickett Chapel Indian United Methodist Church. Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Wednesday February 15, 2017 at the church.
