Johnie David Bennefield

November 6, 1926 — June 5, 2016

John D. Bennefield was born November 6th 1926 in Bixby, OK to Sebe and Martha (Prince) Bennefield. He went to Heaven, Sunday, June 5th to be with our Lord Jesus Christ.

John loved his country and served in the United States Navy during WWII. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, fishing, water and snow skiing, boating and watching sports. He was a Boy Scout troop leader and flag football coach. John was a much beloved Father, husband, grandpa, great grandpa and step father. He was an inspiration and blessing to everyone who had the good fortune to know him.

John was a long time member of Will Rogers United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and, his beloved first wife, Virginia Ann (Waters) Bennefield who was the mother of his four children, and went to Heaven in 1974, and one brother. He is survived by his loving and ever so very, loved wife, Lucy (Hail); daughter, Dana (Jim), son, Mark; daughter, Lisa (James); son Matt, (Marquetta); step sons: Larry Hail and Steve Hail; 6 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; his sisters, Doris Avey,; Mary Meaders; and Dena Metcalf.

Memorial Services will be Saturday June 18th, interment at 11:00, Bixby Cemetery; memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon, Will Rogers United Methodist Church , 1138 South Yale, Tulsa, OK, with reception following. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schaudt-Teel Funeral Services, 5757 South Memorial Drive, Tulsa, OK.

Contributions can be made to Street School Tulsa, 1135 South Yale, Tulsa, OK 74112. Lucy Bennefield is a long time mentor at the school.
