John Thomas Wickliffe died on December 18, 2021, at the age of 64 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
John was born in Tulsa on September 29, 1957, to Claude and Betty Wickliffe. He attended Rogers High School and at the age of nineteen joined the United States Navy, where he served his time on a ship stationed in The Philippines. He loved his time in the service and advanced quickly through the ranks.
After his service in the Navy, he married the love of his life, Andrea Kemp, in 1985. In addition to his beloved stepchildren, the couple soon welcomed a daughter, Candice. He then received his Airplane and Power Plant Certification in 1986, however, John spent the last 30 years of his life working in the trucking industry and was looking forward to retirement in a few short months.
He had an avid appetite for adventure and in his younger days was known to jump on a motorcycle, travel to a new place, and take in every new experience he could. The list of trades he mastered during his life was endless. He simply loved learning and exploring and passed that legacy to his daughter and grandchildren.
John was a devoted Father and Grandfather. He spent the majority of his time in later years with his Grandchildren. He took them fishing, taught them how to play chess, treated them to late-night ice cream parties, and simply listened to anything and everything their hearts desired to share with him.
He had many hobbies he shared with his daughter and grandchildren. Most notable were studying and debating politics, playing poker, riding his Harley, fishing, dancing with his two left feet, and working on projects in his garage.
Although he was not a member of a specific church, he was a faithful believer in Jesus. While this is a difficult time for his family, we have peace knowing that he has gone to a better place.
He is survived by his daughter, Candice Pierce, and husband Michael, and four grandchildren; Carson Haynie, Sophia Torres, Elijah Pierce, and Amelia Pierce. In addition to other loving family and a whole host of friends.
