John Gates came into the presence of Jesus on May 31, 2023 after a long struggle with heart and kidney disease. Despite ongoing health issues, John volunteered at Christ for Humanity for 12 years. Not only did he help provide food and medical

supplies to CFH walk-in clients, he also was always available to serve in the field on outreaches to the Hispanic community, refugees, and international students. 

An avid motorcyclist, John became a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association and enjoyed fellowshipping and cycling with other riders in Oklahoma. The Christmas toy ride was one of his favorites. Many Sundays, John could be found in the sound booth at Fellowship Bible Church, helping broadcast the worship service to those who were homebound. If you needed a servant, John was your man, working for the Lord just a few days before his death. His wonderful smile and serving heart will be missed by many who cared for him. 

John was preceded in death by his father Robert Gates and his mother Margaret Olendorff Gates. His surviving aunts and uncle are: Helena and Leonard Scott (Oklahoma City); Rosie Rice (Broken Arrow); Aggie Wallick (Tulsa); Dorothy Seifried (Florida): Marti Callahan (Houston).

A memorial service for John will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Fellowship Bible Church, 5434 E 91st St, Tulsa, OK 74137. Any flowers may be sent directly to the church for the service.
