John Pigeon, Jr.

John “Red” Pigeon, Jr., a resident of Okmulgee, passed away Thursday, July 14, 2011 at the age of 63. He was born March 27, 1948 to John Pigeon, Sr. and Gertie McNac in Okemah, Oklahoma. He was preceded in death by his mother, Gertie Treadwell; sister, Geneva Taylor and son, Keith Wayne Pigeon. Survivors include his wife, Ella Pigeon of the home; father, John Pigeon, Sr.; children, Johnny Ray Pigeon of Helena, OK , Marcus Dean Pigeon of Okmulgee, Sandra K. Pigeon of Okmulgee, Michael DeWayne Pigeon of Tulsa, Nikkia Dane Pigeon of Tulsa, Heather Joy Allen of Tulsa, Christopher Robert Pigeon of Tulsa, Jania Sue Pigeon of Okmulgee, Issac Eli Pigeon of Okmulgee and Chebon Pigeon of Okmulgee; brothers, Jim Billie of Portland, OR, Jimmy Pigeon of Tulsa, Walter Pigeon of Okemah and Billy Ray Pigeon of Cass Lake, MN; sister, Priscilla Tecumseh of Okmulgee; thirteen grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sunday from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and Monday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Wake Services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, July 18, 2011 at the Hickory Ground #1 Church. Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at the Hickory Ground #1 Church with Reverend Mitchell Taylor officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Pigeon Family Cemetery under the direction of the Shurden-Jackson Funeral Home in Henryetta. Pallbearers will be Adam Pigeon, Nicholas Pigeon, Leslie Taylor, Kevin Foley, Brett Pigeon and Brandon Pigeon. Honorary Pallbearers will be Newman Taylor, Roger Butler, Robert Taylor, Johnny Harjo, Reuben Proctor and Bill Dunn.
