John Northum Tyndall

December 13, 1933 — March 27, 2022

John Northum Tyndall, 88, was born in Nashville, Arkansas on December 13, 1933, the youngest of 5 children born to William and Rachel (Northum) Tyndall. He passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

John was preceded in death by his parents William and Rachel Tyndall, 2 brothers William and Robert Tyndall and his loving wife of 56 years, Virginia Dale (Corbell) Tyndall.

He is survived by his wife, Pat (Winkle) Tyndall of Jenks; son Arthur R. Tyndall and wife Teresa of Jenks; son Phillip A. Tyndall and wife Nancy of Ponca City; sister Carolyn Davis of Lubbock, TX; sister Frances Clardy of Maumelle, AR. He is also survived by loving grandchildren Stephen and wife Annie, Trent and wife Laura, and Brett Tyndall of Jenks; Sydney and Ryleah Tyndall of Ponca City. He had three beautiful great-grandchildren, Paisley, Ozzie, and Charlie Tyndall of Jenks along with many wonderful nephews and nieces.

He married his high school sweetheart, Virginia, in 1956 and shared 56 wonderful years of marriage before her passing in 2012. He was a graduate of Nashville High School in 1951 and attended Henderson State College in Arkadelphia, AR. He was a long-time Razorback fan and regularly attended football games for many years with his closest buddies, known as the Lucky 6. John was given the high school nickname of "Tiger" Tyndall among these friends. The remaining five were James "Madman" Masey, Jimmy "Fox" Shuffield, Burnell "Curley" Goodrum, Don "Spike" Coulter, and Edwin "Lightening" McLarty. It was an onery group and we shall probably never know what conversations and pranks that were delivered by this group of young men.

John served his nation proudly as a member of United State Marine Corps stationed in Korea. In 1959, John and Virginia moved from Fayetteville to Jenks where he established Riverside Insurance Agency. He was very active in the Jenks community, whether it be his involvement with the Jenks Chamber of Commerce, the City Council, the Jenks Jaycees, or flipping pancakes for the Jenks Lions Club. John also coached his sons' football and baseball teams. He loved Jenks, America and the many friendships he made thoughout his life and his many public service roles.

In 2013, he remarried. Patricia Winkle, a Jenks High School graduate. John and Pat shared a love of travel and visited several touring destinations. They traveled to Germany for a river tour. They also cruised the the Caribbean, the Mighty Mississippi, and experienced the cherry blossoms of Washington, D.C. They were very much involved in the Jenks Senior Citizen Center and have had many good times there and made lasting cherished friendhips.
