John Merle Doubet, age 67 passed away on August 9, 2018 at his home in Tulsa, Oklahoma. John was born in Canton, Illinois on May 8, 1951 to Merle and Donna Doubet. He spent his younger years growing up on the family farm in Trivoli, Illinois where he also worked for the family trucking business hauling lime, until he moved to Oklahoma and worked as a tradesman in the construction and trucking industry working in Muskogee, Wagoner, and Tulsa.
John was an avid fisherman and entrepreneur. He spent a decade remodeling his own home adding four rooms and two bathrooms. He enjoyed buying and selling items at auctions and owned his own auction house and store for a time. He was a jack of all trades, loved tinkering on things, playing cards, and enjoyed reading old western books in his spare time. While driving his semi-truck one day, he saw another truck burst into flames and knew at that moment he prayed and put his faith in God. John lived a full life, was generous, and never met a stranger.
He is preceded in death by his father, Merle Doubet and sister Connie Pittman.
Those he leaves to cherish his memories are his mother, Donna Doubet; sister and brother-in-law Kevin and Denise Owsley, brother and sister-in-law George and Rita Doubet, children: Jennifer Penn, Jessica Urgilez (Angel), Dorothy Stephens, and Rhonda McDaniel (Matthew), and Shawn Braun and grandchildren, Brooklynn, Julia and Kilian Stephens, Lexi and Sam McDaniel, and Mia Urgilez
