Obituary for John Meade
John Meade, beloved husband, father, minister, and Retired Air Force Captain, passed away surrounded by his family on November 8, 2024 at the age of 72. Possessing a deep love for his country, his faith, and his Irish heritage, John's life was a testament to service, compassion, and devotion.
John proudly served in the United States Air Force, dedicating 23 years and 10 months as a Captain and Aircraft Maintenance Officer. His commitment to his country was evident throughout his military career, where he exemplified integrity, leadership, and loyalty. However, John's heart and calling extended beyond the military, as he felt led to share the gospel. Alongside his beloved wife, Pina, whom he cherished for 39 years, John's journey as a minister and missionary brought hope and faith to people around the world.
Together, John and Pina traveled extensively to share their faith, spending five years in Ireland, where his proud Irish wit shone brightly, as well as the Czech Republic and Italy. Known as a captivating storyteller, John's passion for the gospel was evident not only in his missionary work but also through his writings. He authored five publications across various genres, each infused with messages of faith and hope.
John's dedication to education was equally impactful. He earned his Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Oral Roberts University in 2007. His commitment to academic excellence is evidenced by receiving the Most Outstanding Achievement Doctoral Graduate award and by being asked to speak at the graduation ceremony, a testimony to the respect and admiration he had earned from his peers at ORU.
Though proud of his military service and past accomplishments, John considered his most profound legacy to be his family and the ministry work he devoted his life to. He held dear his wife, Pina, and children, Joseph, Jonah, and Heather, who carry forward his love, values, and humor.
John has led the way to our heavenly home. He leaves behind a wealth of loving memories with his family, friends and colleagues. John, who never met a stranger, had the unique gift of being able to speak the right thing at the right time to whomever he met. His words and actions will forever remain in our hearts. He is survived by his devoted wife, Pina; parents, Jack and Joan; children, Joseph, Jonah and Heather; and siblings, Patrick, Kathleen, Brian and Karen.
