John Marshall Rogers, Glenpool City Manager, age 54, was welcomed home by our Lord and Savior on Wednesday, April 4, 2007 surrounded by loving family members. His family takes comfort in knowing he is now at peace.
John was born on January 30, 1953 in San Bernardino, California. He was the only son of Mary Jane (Prosser) Rogers and Colonial Dale Rogers. In 1971 he graduated from San Bernardino High School. He received an undergraduate degree from California State in 1974. He attained a Master Degree in Political Science from Mizzou University in 1975. John was a 32nd Degree Mason.
John and his family have lived in Virginia, Missouri, Arkansas, Illinois, Kansas and Oklahoma. He had a career he truly loved. At the time of his death he was working as City Manager for Glenpool, Oklahoma. John was instrumental in the recent economic growth in Glenpool along with several other area projects.
John was known for his hard working straight forward and honest business ethics and for being a very kind and compassionate man. John took great pleasure in his family and friends. He loved animals, computers, bowling, tennis he never met a stranger.
John was preceeded in death by his father: Dale Rogers.
He is survived by his wife: Jeneal (Bumpus) Rogers of Glenpool; his mother: Mary Jane Rogers; his children: Liz Rogers of Bixby; John P. Rogers and Matthew R. Jones of Glenpool.
Visitation with family will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, April 9, 2007. Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at First Baptist Church, Glenpool. Jack Longgrear will officiate.
Interment will be at Bixby Cemetery with Pastor Harold Phillips officiating.
